Manuel Ricardo Galindo Moreno

Manuel has around 15 years of experience, six of them within the UN System and other multilateral organizations. He holds a Master’s Degree in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship from the University of Manchester. Throughout his work experience, he has proven his competencies using computational tools to map, monitor and analyze complex R&D and Innovation systems as well as progress towards 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. His assignments at UNESCO and INOMER included the collection and management of data for a global database on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policy instruments. This database combined qualitative and quantitative data to support policy development and to benchmark country performance. In other projects, he used machine learning tools to group countries according to the capabilities of their STI systems to identify their urgent needs and guide public policymaking.

In addition, Manuel conducted several bibliometric and patent analyses using various programming languages and visualization tools. His analyses have been used in sectoral reports such as the report on Artificial Intelligence in Next Generation Services conducted by INOMER for Innovate UK, as well as reports on country STI performance commissioned by various developing countries. At UNESCO, he has also managed the implementation of large and complex projects such as the comprehensive study carried out for the IsDB to map and evaluate its support programs to its member countries in the field of STI, and to provide recommendations to enhance their impact.
